How to disable "Add Users" in Sitecore's Platform DXP

I have seen a few posts going around the community asking how to disable the "Add Users" button in Sitecore Platform DXP.

This screen is shown when the maximum number of concurrent users for the license has been reached. As a user you should absolutely look to see if there are any users that can be "Kicked Off" first, but this is not always possible.

When a user clicks the "Add Users" button and flows through the process, the user is presented with T&C's that go alongside it and there are licesning implications - so read the terms carefully. While there are limitations as to who can click this button (see Sitecore's documentation), some organisations would prefer to disable the option completely and the good news is that it is exceptionally easy to do.

The below process has been tested on 8.2 Update 7 and 10.3 Initial and I am fairly sure it will work on all versions 8.0 and up, but your mileage may vary.

So now for the steps:

Firstly, log into Sitecore as an Administrator

Open the Sitecore Desktop and switch to the Core database

Open Content Editor and navigate to "/sitecore/client/Applications/LicenseOptions/StartPage/PageSettings/AddUserBtn"

Finally un-check the "IsEnabled" field.

Save and you're done, the button will be disabled - it's that simple.
